company and prepare a detailed financial and market analysis.
Requirements:
1. Report (Knowledge 10 marks,
Application 10 marks, Communication 10 marks)
·
approximately 1000 words in length
·
try to be summative and use
suitable side-headings;
·
it is expected you use graphics
embodied within the text; today’s office
suite software allow this to be done easily;
creating your own graphs from data is preferred to copy and pasting from
the internet
·
interesting title page including
topic or company name, your name, my name, course and date
·
include an executive summary of all key points instead of an introduction
·
side headings for the company
analysis should be as follows:
·
Overview,
Financial Analysis (include key
ratios, trends), SWOT Analysis (strengths,
weaknesses of the company internally, opportunities and threats
externally)
·
use
appendix for all financial statements, articles, etc.
·
criteria will include quality and
quantity of research, readability
2. Seminar (Thinking/Inquiry 10
marks, Communication 10 marks)
·
you will present your findings
·
it is necessary to use
presentation software (Powerpoint, Freelance, Corel Presentations)
·
your opening “slide” should be
just the topic or company name
·
again
try to be summative in nature and don’t put more than six points on a slide or
include paragraphs of text; graphs are good!
·
make
sure you don’t read off the slides … we can see them!
·
end with questions for the class –
they will know your issue or company ahead of time
·
you will be marked on
professionalism, confidence ability to deal effectively with barrage of
questions
·
due near end of semester
3. Participation (A separate
mark: Thinking/Inquiry 5 marks,
Communication 5 marks)
·
all students will be expected to
research the companies being presented
·
students must ask the presentor
challenging and well thought out questions
